DENTAL AESTHETICS
Problems in the appearance of teeth are an important element that negatively affects people’s social life. Teeth that are pleasing to the eye and line up in harmony when you laugh, have a positive effect on people’s lives and are among the effective signs of personal care. A glamorous smile significantly increases people’s self-confidence and social communication, contributing to success and happiness in their business and private lives.
Problems such as irregularities in the alignment of the teeth, large gaps between the teeth or dark teeth affect your smile negatively. In addition, previously discolored or discolored coatings, darkened fillings and gingival problems also adversely affect both health and aesthetics.
Frequently Applied Methods in Dental Aesthetics
DENTAL IMPLANT
Dental implants are artificial tooth roots that are placed in the jawbone in order to restore the function and aesthetics of missing teeth and are made of material compatible with human tissues. They are screw-shaped structures produced in various lengths and diameters, designed to imitate tooth roots, mostly produced from titanium with improved surface properties.
Dental implant treatment is carried out in two stages. The first stage is the surgical stage in which a socket suitable for the length and diameter of the implant, which is decided to be used in the region where the implant will be placed, is prepared in the right position and at the ideal angle without damaging the neighboring teeth, soft tissues and other anatomical structures, and then the implant is placed in the prepared socket. After the implant is placed in the bone, the healing process necessary for it to become a part of the body and fuse with the bone begins. This process takes about three months, but in some cases it can be shorter or longer. With the end of the waiting period, the second stage is started and the construction of the prostheses planned at the beginning of the treatment begins on the implants. At this stage, it varies between two days and two weeks, depending on the type of prosthesis to be made.
Since the placement of dental implants is a surgical procedure, this procedure should perform by a Maxillofacial Surgeon.
DENTAL CROWNS
Dental veneers are named according to the materials used. From the past to the present, different materials have been used in terms of both durability and aesthetics, depending on the development of technology and material knowledge. The earliest materials were gold-containing alloys. they were very old and very long history capping but aesthetic feature was very limited.
Especially ceramics are used in new materials. Ceramics are very advantageous materials, especially in terms of replicating tooth color exactly. Ceramics are also classified within themselves. Metal was used as the hardening material under the ceramics. Since ceramics applied to metal in the past and increasing durability were also aesthetically limited, we no longer use metal ceramic coatings today. We mostly use zirconium infrastructure or full ceramic coatings. Zirconium and full ceramic material coatings are currently the most technological materials in terms of aesthetics and durability.
First of all, suspicious formations such as decayed old restorative materials or old fillings in the tooth must be completely cleaned and the teeth are reduced as much as the thickness of the material to be used from the teeth.
TEETH WHITENING
Teeth bleaching involves the dissolution of colored organic and inorganic substances found in the enamel and dentin layers of teeth that have changed color for various reasons or are structurally dark, with tooth whitening gels. Hydrogen peroxide and carbamide peroxide are used as active agents in the bleaching systems used.
Two types of bleaching methods are used today. The first of these is the home bleaching technique that the patient can apply on his own. In this method, a special thin plastic-based mold is prepared for him to wear on his teeth by taking measurements. The patient applies the whitening agent given to him with the help of this mold for the recommended time. Treatment is completed in approximately 1 to 4 weeks.
